This one was weird, first, the box art has the afterburner scoops and sidewinder rack backwards! Then the instructions omit the intake piece, and tell you to close the fuselage before installing a lot of parts that really should be put in first as they are difficult if not impossible to do so afterward.
Also I know the VF-84 didn't fly this version of the F-8 off the Nimitz but I liked the decals better than the kits decals.

Very nicely done! I like the Whiffie c/s. The RF-8Gs survived long enough to get the Navy TPS c/s, so your model is very apropos! I will be building the Monogram kit using NASA decals soon, so I am curious to hear your appraisal of the strengths & weaknesses of this kit. R/ Dutch

Thank you! About the kit, it was just odd that the intake piece isn't mentioned at all in the instructions and the box art is way off. I like the kit but it would be very frustrating for someone new to model building

I really like the low viz paint on these. I had the opportunity back in the 80's to see the last RF-8's in low viz gray. One hell of an aircraft. Just added the Monogram F-8 to my stash. I think I'll go for the traditional two tone. I bought the US Navy high viz set of Hataka orange line lacquers I'm going to try out on this model. Enjoyed your pics, man.

Thanks Alexander I appreciate it. Just look out for the messed up instructions and ignore the very inaccurate box art.
By the way I noticed you're in El Cajon, I grew up in San Diego and lived in El Cajon.

Right on. Sounds like most Revell/Monogram models. Yeah, I'm up in Crest. Nice and quiet up here. East County gets a bad rap but I love it.
