Hey dudes, thx for your comments! I'm impressed about the fit and engineering of this Hobbyboss molding ( despite the seats ) ! Tomorrow i'll post some pix!
Greetz, Holger

bob the builder
The diffrence between the original and the ressin seats is fantastic, already beautiful details on them Holger
 23 January 2012, 05:54
Holger Kranich
Yes, i think to choose the replacement-seats was the right decision! But the rest of the kit is well detailed!😢
 23 January 2012, 08:33
Holger Kranich
I added some brass to the seats, dont know why verlinden dont puts pe´s to the box...
 23 January 2012, 09:17

Looking good Holger, great details on this kit, nice start, greetings Phil

I've A-7E queuing for build, I'm looking forward for the final effect of your build.
 23 January 2012, 12:09
Holger Kranich
THX Phil, this TA-7 makes a lot of fun to build. Its nicely detailed but has room for improvements, how you can see! 🙂
What next model can we expect from your bench?
Greetz!
 23 January 2012, 12:13
Holger Kranich
After the Phantom, i mean!
 23 January 2012, 12:14
Philip De Keyser
I think it will be a A 10 Thunderbolt from Italeri with the aires cockpit, wheelbays and the electronic bay, the sheme I just don't now yet how it gone look? I'm now busy with the decals on the F 4, looking good so far, but I'm looking forward at the A 10, greetings Phil
 23 January 2012, 13:10
Holger Kranich
A Warthog in 1:48? Twin or singleseater? I love the A-10, especially in a desertcamo and with a lot of ordnance under the wings🙂
 23 January 2012, 13:24
Philip De Keyser
a singleseater, in 1/48 scale, greetz Phil
 23 January 2012, 13:49

Holger, forgive us if we're trying to change the paint scheme on your A-7...but...I like the Molar Maurader scheme found here:

modellversium.de/gal..air-ii-hasegawa.html
 24 January 2012, 03:29
Dave Flitton
I love it!!! Is there a decal sheet for 1/72? Maybe I should build more than one A-7 for our group build!!!!
 24 January 2012, 05:30
Wilfried Bogaerts
I will send a general message about the gang-bang (I mean group build 😉 ) over the weekend 🙂
 24 January 2012, 08:03
Holger Kranich
Yeah, Wilfried, do it!!!
 24 January 2012, 08:14
Holger Kranich
@Patrick, you´re right, the Molar Marauder looks very nice! And i´m still open for new ideas! Maybe the Molarscheme is one of the next projects...😢
 24 January 2012, 08:47
Holger Kranich
Hello guy´s! I did some work on my corsair. This Hobbyboss-kit is a bit confusing. Some parts of the cockpit needed heavy correction grinding but the avionicbay-hatches literally sucked themselfes into the right position! Anyway its a lot of fun to build this SLUFF and i´m heading to finish it, soon. Only some additions and i´m ready for the paintjob.

Greetz Holger
 6 February 2012, 08:08
Holger Kranich
Hi Michael! I too wanna see paint on my SLUFF! The pit needs some weathering and the wings and stabilizers need some minor detailing. The build makes fun and thats the most important fact! Whats up with your F-4?
 6 February 2012, 09:50
Holger Kranich
Especially an F-4 has a hell of many decals! So you need a hell of quiet hands to apply them properly! On some close-up pix of the greek A-7´s there are similar much stencils to see. Fortunately they are too small even in 1:48. It would take a year or so to apply them all! So i´m happy to have the exquisite icarusdecals handy😢
 6 February 2012, 10:35
Holger Kranich
Hi Guido, thx for the comment! Today i´ll try to make some better pix of the bird and work on. I bet, i dont need to sand the wings, the fit of them is pretty perfect. Only the angle of the horizontal stabilizers make´s me a headache. I have to work very patiently on them.
 6 February 2012, 10:49
Holger Kranich
I added some "pix from the pit"😢
 6 February 2012, 13:10
Philip De Keyser
Nice pit Holger, keep the pics comming, looking great, greetz Phil
 6 February 2012, 17:07
Holger Kranich
Thx phil! Its just a lot of fun and i can try out some new techniques to improve my skills! But Fun is more important😢!
 6 February 2012, 18:08
Patrick Duve
Coming along nicely Holger. Cockpit looks good.
 7 February 2012, 03:33
Holger Kranich
...and some more "pix from the pit"!

Some weathering is done and after some corrections, i´m going to close the canopy prior to the paintjob. Will see how it turned out, after demasking...🙂
 7 February 2012, 13:04
Holger Kranich
Today´s evening is dedicated to the wings. Hopefully i dont have big gaps between the fuselage. Dryfitting seems to show that everything will be allright! 🙂
 15 February 2012, 15:56
Aghis Barberopoulos
It is going well Holger. Take your time when it comes to the camo, it is not easy masking around those curves😉
 15 February 2012, 16:30
Holger Kranich
Yeah Guido, i'll do😢!

Aghis, she's like a lady! I have to take my time and be patient🙂🙂🙂!
 15 February 2012, 18:10

Don't forget to provide us with pictures 🙂
 15 February 2012, 18:41
Aghis Barberopoulos
You 've got it mate ! 🙂
 15 February 2012, 18:41
Holger Kranich
Wings are added, canopy is ready to get glued (first time i try the clearpartglue from Revell) and some mask´s are precut for the camo!😢
 28 February 2012, 08:16
Philip De Keyser
Looks great Holger, almost readdy for some paint? Greetz Phil
 28 February 2012, 14:47
Holger Kranich
Thanks Phil!🙂
Yes its time to smell Vallejo at the workbench😢
 28 February 2012, 15:07
Aghis Barberopoulos
Assembly well done! Looks gooood😉
 28 February 2012, 16:35
stefan natus
Nice work on the cockpit, looking out for the paint work.
Do you like the vallejo paints?I'm a vallejo user also, just don't like the black to airbrush.
 28 February 2012, 17:27
Holger Kranich
@Aghis, Thank you mate😢 I appreciate your comments!

@Stefan: Yes i like Vallejo very much. I use the ModelAir edition. But this is the third or fourth model i´m using them. My not favored coloures are yellow (RLM4?) and the matt varnish.
 28 February 2012, 17:40
stefan natus
Try to thin the matt varnish with distilled water works better for me then the vallejo thinners.
 28 February 2012, 17:49
Holger Kranich
ModelAir, too? Destilled water, i´ll try it!Thx! I´m gonna post a pic with the coloures, i´m using.🙂
 28 February 2012, 17:51
Holger Kranich
So, pix are added🙂
 28 February 2012, 18:00
stefan natus
I always thin the model air colors, for the varnishes (matt and satin) i use distilled water, for colors and the model color range i use their own thinners with some retarder or glaze medium (nr 596).
 28 February 2012, 18:03
Holger Kranich
Ok, sounds interesting! When i tryed it, i´ll give you a feedback, especially when i ruin the paintjob😢😢😢!
 28 February 2012, 18:09
Mike Kryza
Hello - I'm working for nearly 100% with Vallejos (MAir, MColor and PanzerAces too) - and I've stopped experimenting with water and other thinners after some extreme failures. It's possible to spray all the colors with an airbrush under the condition mixing them with thinner from V.
For the varnish I take the new one with a new mixture - it works very well.
(You get it in bottles which content 200ml for a really good price - that includes some primers too).
By the way the yellow works well too if the first layer is white.
Hope I could helped a little bit (V. are a never ending story 🙂🙂
 29 February 2012, 10:57
Marek Swiderski
For Valejo varnish [mat, satin and gloss] I'm using a simply alcohol [vodka]. It's cheaper than thinner for Valejo.
 29 February 2012, 11:33
Holger Kranich
Hey Mike, Thx for posting, first-hand-accounts are still the best😢 I´m experimenting a bit and with all your hints, i´ll find a satisfying way for me!
 29 February 2012, 12:04
Holger Kranich
@Marek, you take what? Wodka? Thats interesting, too! One for the varnish, one for you😢 I have some Ouzo at home, maybe i try that, too!😢
 29 February 2012, 12:19
Malte D
LOL - one for the varnish, one for you! :-D Prost!
 29 February 2012, 12:32
Marek Swiderski
Holger I need better company for drinking than Valejo, but up2U who are you drinking on your own. 🙂

Hi Holger, please accept my apology for not finding this thread earlier! I don't know how I missed it, but you are doing a fantastic job on this SLUF! The pit looks great, can't wait to see more progress!
 29 February 2012, 13:44
Holger Kranich
Bill, accepted😢
And thx for the kind comment. It´s big fun, building it but i´m a bit scared about the camo! I hope i don´t ruin it...😢

I saved the message from a CHinese restaurant fortune cookie the other day. It said: "Act as if it were impossible to fail!" It's my new motto!
 29 February 2012, 21:59
Burkhard D
May last Chinese restaurant cookie read "This was not chicken"
 1 March 2012, 07:50
Holger Kranich
Marek, Bill Michael, Burkhard, thank you for your postive comments, i´ll keep that in mind when it comes to painting😢
This was not chicken, LOL!
 1 March 2012, 09:12
Holger Kranich
@Marek, your friend really build an beautiful SLUFF!
 1 March 2012, 09:14
Marek Swiderski
I wasn't easy job to encourage him to share his models on Britmodeller.
 1 March 2012, 09:17
Holger Kranich
Why? It looks amazing. Would have been a pitty, not to share it!
 1 March 2012, 09:18
Bill Gilman
"This was not chicken." LOL One time, my Chinese fortune cookie said "You have but one face." So I was expecting some deep philosophical statement. But then it added "Blame your mother."
 1 March 2012, 14:15
Holger Kranich
LOL, thats a good joke😢
 1 March 2012, 15:03
Holger Kranich
Some lil updates are archieved, this weekend. In fact i had to work in the office, but that didnt stoped me from modelling. I added a small amount of putty between wings and fuselage. Preshading isnt finished yet. Before using the airbrush for preshading, i washed the whole model with isopropyl-alcohol. I hope that helps to let the paint stick to the surface. I´m happy with the progress, so far🙂!

Looking very nice! I thought the Greeks flew the TA-7H (H for Hellenic). Was this maybe just the export version of the TA-7C, or were there some other differences?
 4 March 2012, 19:32
Holger Kranich
Hi Bill! The greek airforce had some different versions. There are heavy differences between particular aircraft. Some have a refulingprobe, some not. Some have the typical pitotubes, some not... Its not easy to say if its "C" or "H" but this is the first time i hear about the "H" in greek service.
I decided my self for the aircraft with the endnumber "747"... 🙂
 4 March 2012, 19:39
Holger Kranich
I added a pic with the referance from the "Icarusdecals" sheet.
 4 March 2012, 19:45
Bill Gilman
It looks to me like your decal sheet says "TA-7H/C". I just looked in Wikipedia and it says that Greece operates both TA-7H and TA-7C. It would be interesting to find out if there are any external differences, or whether the difference is primarily avionics set. I'm also wondering whether the H models were built new for Greece, and the C models were transferred from the USN when Greece asked for more. That's a possibility.
 4 March 2012, 20:14
Holger Kranich
The photos showes incredible differences, but not in the panellines. I told about the refulingprobe and pitotubes, and there are some other antennaes as the "C" has normally. Greek "C"´s can not operate from aircraftcarriers cause the cat can not arrest anymore in the frontgear.
 4 March 2012, 20:20
Holger Kranich
With photos, i mean my referancepix...
 4 March 2012, 20:21
Holger Kranich
Thx, i just was thinking about you!😉
 4 March 2012, 21:12
Holger Kranich
Its really a challenge, but i enjoy it!😢
 4 March 2012, 21:14
Holger Kranich
Hi Michael, i´m going to make some exercise on an old Me-262 to decide how i´m going to make it. And you are right, that is the funpart😢
 5 March 2012, 07:16
Holger Kranich
Some new pix are added, featuring the first light coat of paint🙂!
 21 March 2012, 15:22
Bill Gilman
Looking very nice! Can't wait to see how the camoflage looks when you've finished. The A-7 is such a brute, I love the way it looks.

By the way, does anyone make a conversion kit to make a YA-7F out of an A-7D?
 21 March 2012, 15:53
Zimmermaniac
coming togehter well Holger, love your gloves by the way 🙂
 21 March 2012, 15:58
Acki
Hi Holger, beautiful! I´m lovin it.
 21 March 2012, 16:45
Holger Kranich
Thanks for your comments, guy´s!
@Zimmi: The gloves are very tight, but have a real good grip on the model
surface!
@Bill: Sorry havent seen such a kit, but its an interesting idea to do a YA-7F!
 21 March 2012, 17:03
Bill Gilman
The YA-7F was an interesting idea, basically a supersonic strikefighter version of the SLUF. The fuselage was stretched several feet, and some of the aerodynamic surfaces changed. Ended up looking a lot like an F-8 Crusader, which is of course what the A-7 was derived from to begin with!!
 21 March 2012, 20:05
Holger Kranich
@Guido: Sound a bit like Master Joda😢 !
 22 March 2012, 12:18
Burkhard D
Recht er hat.
 22 March 2012, 12:26
Acki
"Dunkel die andere Seite ist".

"Halt´s Maul Yoda und iss dein Schnitzel wie die anderen auch".
 22 March 2012, 13:53
Holger Kranich
LOL!!!
 22 March 2012, 15:07
Bill Gilman
OK, let us English speaking folks in on the joke!
 22 March 2012, 15:59
Dave Flitton
It's their version of Yoda, only in German
 22 March 2012, 16:40
Aghis Barberopoulos
🙂 Hahaha
 22 March 2012, 16:59
Holger Kranich
Acki´s was funny:

"Dark the other side is."

"Shut up Joda and eat your steak like everyone else at the table!"
 22 March 2012, 17:17
Aghis Barberopoulos
Muahahahaha
 22 March 2012, 18:24
Bill Gilman
I think the second line should be:

"Schnitzel eat must you, everyone at table sitting, shut up Yoda must!"
 22 March 2012, 20:11
Holger Kranich
Hahaha, yeah, thats a lot better than my translation!😢 And a lil bit more confusing...🙂
 22 March 2012, 20:15
Holger Kranich
Ok, Guido, i know what you mean!🙂 🙂 🙂
 22 March 2012, 21:44
Aghis Barberopoulos
That Yoda take is marveelouus, I can't stop laughing 🙂 🙂 🙂
 23 March 2012, 16:54
Holger Kranich
Absolute funny, yeah!😢
 23 March 2012, 20:47
Malte D
Stop laughing, continue painting! LOL
Looks awesome so far. Also love your huge blue cutting mat!
 24 March 2012, 06:28

 24 March 2012, 12:26
Aghis Barberopoulos
Yoda on the scale question: Size matters not...judge me by my size do you ? 🙂
 24 March 2012, 12:42
Holger Kranich
Very good Aghis, maybe we should start a "Star Wars" thread on SCM?🙂
 24 March 2012, 12:45
Aghis Barberopoulos
Tempting...🙂
 24 March 2012, 12:50
Holger Kranich
I found what many dont have, time...
But now i applied some paint on the TA-7! Its the first coat, some more will follow!🙂
 9 April 2012, 18:46
Aghis Barberopoulos
The camo starts to take shape! Promising start Holger!
 9 April 2012, 18:53
Holger Kranich
Thank you guy´s, i appreciate it very much!!!
 9 April 2012, 19:24

Looking very good!
 9 April 2012, 20:54

Looking great Holger, keep the pix comming, greetz Phil
 10 April 2012, 11:18
Holger Kranich
Thx, Phil! But i have to add some more layers of light camo green on it!
 10 April 2012, 13:00
Christian Bruer
Well done so far! I really like the camo sheme!
Christian
 10 April 2012, 13:16
stefan natus
Nice one holger, like you said the light green needs a tad more.
 10 April 2012, 16:12
Holger Kranich
Thank you Guy´s!
@Stefan: Yes a bit more is necessary, i think! The pre-shade is to prominent, to me!
 10 April 2012, 17:07
Holger Kranich
Hello Guy´s!
I did some upload´s from the next step. Decaling has already begun! The Icarus-decals stick like hell and they are, for my taste, a bit stiff at first. But with some softener, they went down, nicely, i think.
Its fun to work with them!
Thx Michael😢!
 15 April 2012, 18:18
Holger Kranich
Thank you, Guido! I like the result so far. Tomorrow i´ll add some more pix!
 15 April 2012, 18:36
Holger Kranich
Generally i dont cut in decals, only to avoid bubbles. The "Hobbyboss" panelines are not very deep, so the decals are lying nicely in them, now! I have experimented with different softeners and the Revellstuff works best with the "Icarusdecals"! I hope a dark wash will expose the panels enough!
 15 April 2012, 18:56
Holger Kranich
I´ll try to do my best with all this lil stencils!
 15 April 2012, 19:14
Aghis Barberopoulos
You have come a long way Holger, keep the detailing up !
 15 April 2012, 19:49
Zimmermaniac
going good
 15 April 2012, 19:50
Holger Kranich
I´m gonna try to do my best! Decaling is a lot fun now, the decals are working for me! If you ever do a greek aircraft, search for "Icarus-Decals"! You´ll wont be disappointed!
 15 April 2012, 19:53
Bill Gilman
Yes, I have heard Icarus decals are quite good. I will keep that in mind!
 15 April 2012, 20:59
Holger Kranich
😢 This evening on my agenda: The stencils!
 16 April 2012, 06:30
Philip De Keyser
It's comming very well, looks great Holger, keep the pix comming, greetz Phil
 16 April 2012, 08:34
Holger Kranich
Thx, Phil! Its a lot of fun, all the way!
 16 April 2012, 09:30
Holger Kranich
Oh Holger, you fool...
I made a major failure whilst decaling. I relyed myself on the referance from the Icarus decalsheet. But these referances are totally different from those, i collected! Crosschecked with my photos, some of the stencils and markings are on the wrong place!!! hpfgrmblhatewrathrageflippingoutdrivesmecrazyfknshit...🙁

At first i decided to let it how it is, because the decals are literally welded with the surface ( like i said, the decals are great, but the referance is..., not to mention...!)
 16 April 2012, 16:18
Bill Gilman
Don't worry about it. The only ones who will know are you and all of us Scalemates. And we'll never tell anyone, or judge your model at a competition! By the way, have you counted the rivets yet? I think you may have too many... 🙂

Can you translate the last word in your first paragraph?

Seriously, this is looking very sweet! Makes me want to pull out my A-7 and start building it!
 16 April 2012, 16:34
Holger Kranich
Bill, very kind words, thank you!

The decals on the starboard-side are just wrong placed, It is how it is and i have to live with that...

The last word is quickly translated:
hpfgrmbl ( I often read this in comics) hate-wrath-rage-flippingout-drives-me-crazy-fkn-shit

Please dont ask me to translate : fkn😢
 16 April 2012, 16:40
Holger Kranich
And i´m not a rivetcounter or nitpicker!😢
 16 April 2012, 16:43
Wilfried Bogaerts
No worries Holger, no one will notice, as Bill Navy Bird already mentioned. BTW, the SLUF looks great and it will even improve under a flat coat !
Nice job, I like it.
 16 April 2012, 17:54
Wilfried Bogaerts
More importantly and way more obviously compared to a tiny stencil, you pointed the roundels at the correct attitude...😉
 16 April 2012, 17:57
Holger Kranich
Btw on the last pix you can see the gloss of "Erdal Glänzer". Its not bad, but i would give a ball for a bottle of future!
 16 April 2012, 17:57
Wilfried Bogaerts
Hmm, in that case i'd rather use ordinary Erdal Glänzer...
 16 April 2012, 18:03
Holger Kranich
correct attitude! Haha, Wilfried!😢😢😢
 16 April 2012, 18:12
Bill Gilman
You can't get Future in Germany? Isn't it called Klir or something like that? I could probably send you a bottle, but I don't want what you're offering to part with. 🙂

I thought Germans could get Future from here:

modellbaufarben.de/

I also think Aldis has a similar product: Aldi Stodil?
 16 April 2012, 20:07

Another first for you Holger! Well done mate 🙂
 17 April 2012, 08:58

no worries Holger, I made a change so the news feed is fast again!😉
 17 April 2012, 14:07

Ok! Is it one of the longest threads here? Didnt felt that the feed was slow...🙂
 17 April 2012, 14:09

 17 April 2012, 16:45
Holger Kranich
Well stefan, i´ll carry on till the model is finished... As you see, there´s a long way to go! Maybe we crack the 200?🙂
 17 April 2012, 17:57
Philip De Keyser
crack those 200 Holger, greetz Phil
 17 April 2012, 19:40
Holger Kranich
Phil, i hang in there!😢
 17 April 2012, 19:48
Holger Kranich
A bit more stenceling is done!
 21 April 2012, 11:58
Holger Kranich
These decals are made with greatest craftmanship! Its pure fun to work with!
 21 April 2012, 12:23
Zimmermaniac
those decals seem top indeed, not a sign o' silvering to see ( 173 🙂 )
 21 April 2012, 12:49
Holger Kranich
I have some bubbles but they are to small to see! (We´ll crack the 200!)
 21 April 2012, 12:55
Aghis Barberopoulos
Oh, that's what the 173 was about😉
 21 April 2012, 12:56
Holger Kranich
I hope so! If not, i didnt understood Zimmi😢!
 21 April 2012, 12:58
Zimmermaniac
IT WAS ( 177 )
 21 April 2012, 13:51
Holger Kranich
😢! I knew i understood right!
 21 April 2012, 13:54
Zimmermaniac
but there must be something wrong, at the time I wrote it said 172, now it says 168...
 21 April 2012, 14:00
Holger Kranich
my actual vision is 169...
 21 April 2012, 14:02
Holger Kranich
Yeah, now i see, 181! But lets better talk about the model, than about comments😢
 21 April 2012, 14:05
Aghis Barberopoulos
The engine intake duct is one of the challenging details of this aircraft. How is it in this kit Holger ?
 21 April 2012, 14:25
Philip De Keyser
Looking great Holger, keep the pix comming, greetz Phil
 21 April 2012, 14:45
Holger Kranich
Very bad Aghis, unfortunately!
 21 April 2012, 19:57
Aghis Barberopoulos
Then I have a suggestion: intake cover 😉
Why not ?
 21 April 2012, 20:04
Holger Kranich
I´m thinking about intake-covers...
 21 April 2012, 20:11
Aghis Barberopoulos
I would put a cover, but that's me...it is not so much that I am picky, but I am - after all - an aerodynamicist😉
 23 April 2012, 10:53
Holger Kranich
The intake-duct is not nicely arranged by Hobbyboss. Maybe i´ll do some trial and error to figure out the best material for such an intakecover.
 23 April 2012, 11:17
Holger Kranich
Memo for me: Scratch some RBF-Tags!
 23 April 2012, 11:38
Bill Gilman
@Holger - Eduard makes some nice RBF flags in photoetch, pre-painted. I have a ton of them in 1:72, but none in 1:48 unfortunately. They look great!
 23 April 2012, 13:01
Holger Kranich
Thanks Bill, but i know. The problem is that if i order them, it takes very long to get them here!
 23 April 2012, 13:19
Holger Kranich
I just have to collect some items to order and RBF Tags will be with them😢
 23 April 2012, 13:20
Peter Neyens
Hi Holger ! It's looking great. What a beauty !! I love it ...
 23 April 2012, 16:08
Holger Kranich
Thanks, Peter! Its a lot of fun😢
 23 April 2012, 16:15
stefan natus
Scrolling.... ok.
Decals looking mighty fine holger, for RBF flags check out hgw_models on ebay they are made from some kind of micro textile and looking very good.
hgw.webgarden.cz
 23 April 2012, 16:44
Holger Kranich
@Stefan: Nice link! They produce fine stuff, could be a replacement for pe´s in bigger scales, like 1:48 up.
 23 April 2012, 16:54
Holger Kranich
I added some stencils whilst my lunch-break. This evening i´d like to begin with the wash. Will see if i get managed to finish the decaljob till then! I hope the neighbours hesitate to piss me off, because the still ask me to drink beer with them. No problem so far, but they only ask me when i´m building...

Btw, who wants to write comment no. 200?😉
 27 April 2012, 11:27
Holger Kranich
Guido! Nice to give you the 200! Your an annoyer? Cant believe that😢
 27 April 2012, 12:03
Aghis Barberopoulos
Nice work, keep it up Holger!
 27 April 2012, 14:48
Zimmermaniac
It's gonna be a winner Holger, sure 'bout that
 27 April 2012, 16:40
Holger Kranich
Thank you very much, C.! Maybe you can have a look at it in a few month...😢
 27 April 2012, 16:52
Zimmermaniac
I'm looking out towards it Holger
 27 April 2012, 16:54
Holger Kranich
Me too, Zimmi, me too!
 27 April 2012, 17:11
Markus Kutsch The Plastic Bench
Pic.2. Is that the original seat on the left that is given to the model?
 27 April 2012, 17:18
Holger Kranich
Hi Markus! Yes, the left one is in the kit, the other is from Verlinden, the differance is crazy, isnt it?
 27 April 2012, 17:25
Markus Kutsch The Plastic Bench
If it so,a lack of Detail ,or?
 27 April 2012, 17:26
Holger Kranich
Yeah, the pit needed replacements, desperately! But the rest of the model is quite good detailed and has a great fit! Only the Air-To-Ground weapons are very rudimentary replicated... I need to give them some attention!
 27 April 2012, 17:33
Markus Kutsch The Plastic Bench
Remimds me of the matchbox seats in 1:72 planes. 🙂
 27 April 2012, 17:34
Holger Kranich
HAHA, yes, even Airfix made it better! Dont know what has driven them...
 27 April 2012, 17:36
Holger Kranich
But its used to be said, that the Hobbyboss A-7´s are the best choice for that aircraft!
 27 April 2012, 17:38
Dave Flitton
Who said that?
 27 April 2012, 20:10
Holger Kranich
Everyone else?...
 27 April 2012, 20:12
Dave Flitton
Hobby Boss is the latest to put one out but far from the best in 1/72. They simplified many of the parts. I understood that Fujimi put out the best A-7 in 1/72 but it is rather complicated.
 27 April 2012, 20:15
T.-O. Meyer
Fujimi never produced the TA-Versions, but for the single-seater I would say, that Fujimi is srtill first choice😉
 27 April 2012, 21:18
Duncan Cook
Looks very nice Markus.
Now you build a Pleitegeier😉 .
just kidding carry on with this nice work.
 27 April 2012, 21:47
Duncan Cook
Sorry I mean Holger😉
 27 April 2012, 21:52

No worrie, Duncan!😉

After i decided to calm a bit down and do some modeling, i finally finished the decaljob on this babe! Now its time to come to another step, i love to do: Washing!
 4 May 2012, 17:08
Markus Kutsch The Plastic Bench
Looks great .Keep up the good work!
 4 May 2012, 17:14
Holger Kranich
Some decalfluid has to be applied, but no big deal😢
 4 May 2012, 17:18
Sarunas D
Good work on the camouflage!
 4 May 2012, 17:44
Holger Kranich
Thx! Nice to hear!
 4 May 2012, 17:46
Holger Kranich
Shit, what should i do now??? The surface was cleaned before painting, i used no new stuff, gave the decals 2(!!!) layers of clear and what happened? The paint has peeled and the oilwash wont disappear... Foxtrott, Uniform, Charliy, Kilo...
 7 May 2012, 17:47
Augie
nice looking kit.. really.. looks good.. cant wait to see the end product
 7 May 2012, 17:59
Aghis Barberopoulos
Sounds strange Holger, that has never happened to me, even if the paint is acrylic underneath... OK. make the best of a bad situation: it does not look too bad for a birdstrike or something!!! Keep on working and do not touch the disturbed area until everything is settled. Then we shall think of something 🙂
 7 May 2012, 18:07
Mike Kryza
Holger - what are you using for the layers. (Habe das hoffentlich auch mit meinen Englischkenntnissen richtig übersetzt!!??) I always use on models with a lot of decals Mr. Metal Primer from Gunze. OK sometimes it will be tricky too to add the decals, but I feel this is the best choice. Do you use Future???
What to do? - Good question, I don't know what products you use.
I by myself would wait untlil the surface is dry - and than sprayed another thin layer. After drying fixing the decals only with water and a drop of vinegar. Hope it will work well.
 7 May 2012, 18:11
Holger Kranich
Stunning! This is just what i have planned! I would have never expect such an accident, due to the use of stuff, i always work with! Maybe i havent cleaned enough before painting... Naja, ich krieg das schon irgendwie hin... (Well i´ll manage that, anyway)
 7 May 2012, 18:16
Holger Kranich
Hey Mike: I wiped the surface with isopropyl and sprayed on the vallejopaint. Before and after the decals, i applyed Emsal Glänzer in 2 coats. My problem is, if i spray a new coat of paint, i dont have sparedecals!
 7 May 2012, 18:24
Augie
Fleck it with a matt silver... should look like just paint chipping
 7 May 2012, 18:26
Holger Kranich
Hi Augie, i thought about that, but i keeped in mind that those heavy chipping is not average in greek aircraft. But like you and Aghis said, could be a birdstrike! And i have to be careful, if i apply the silverpaint😢!
 7 May 2012, 18:30
Holger Kranich
Thank you Guido! I try to calm down, and i hopefully can sustain it, or i´ll will freakoutdipshitfcknhatewrathrage, and we all dont want that! (Just kidding, i´m cool...)🙂
 7 May 2012, 18:37
Augie
well, looking at the state of some greek airframes... i think you could argue it..
 7 May 2012, 18:46
Holger Kranich
LOL😢
 7 May 2012, 18:48
Mike Kryza
I had to change in the german language - Ich hatte dieses Problem auch schon.
 7 May 2012, 18:56
Holger Kranich
Danke für Deine Unterstützung, ich werd auch noch "Hirnschmalz" produzieren!Irgendwie muß das ja hinzubiegen sein...
 7 May 2012, 18:58
stefan natus
Such a bad luck, hope you can fix it.
 7 May 2012, 19:01
Holger Kranich
I hope that, too...
 7 May 2012, 19:03
Bill Gilman
Are you just talking about the front edge of the vertical tail? When I first saw that I thought you did it on purpose, to show paint chipping. Doesn't look bad at all.
 8 May 2012, 00:06
Mike Kryza
Haven't get any other idea - take a rest (I see you build a new kid) - and in time you will rework the plane. Hope it will become a good end, cause I know the frustration when a nearly completed model failed.
 8 May 2012, 17:29
Holger Kranich
Thats right the way, i´ll walk! Thx!
 8 May 2012, 17:33
Holger Kranich
Hey Guys and Gals!
I decided to move on with this project!
Actually I'm working on the weaponry and will keep you posted with pix, tomorrow! Feels good to work on the kit again! Now I'm finally ready to finish😢!
 7 January 2013, 20:46
babak chalangi
wow amazing finish holger
 7 January 2013, 20:47
Markus Kutsch The Plastic Bench
Wow,i agree with babak.
Top work ,Mate 👍 . Like it 🙂
 7 January 2013, 20:50
Holger Kranich
Oh thank you, Markus and Babak!
Certainly, as I stopped it, I thought that I will never finish it. But now I think, I was a p***y or a Diva! I'm a modeler and those issues shouldn't stop me from doing a good model!
 7 January 2013, 21:36

Moin moin Holger , ich weiss wohl wieso ich keine modernen Jets baue , das sind ja mehr Decals wie Bauteile 🙂 🙂
prima Arbeit , die Lackierung kann absolut überzeugen
 7 January 2013, 21:56
Holger Kranich
Augie, Kim, Frank, thank you so much for motivating! I need to compress my a**cheeks and finish that one! I owe it to Michael Hickey!

Jens, dankeschön! War viel Arbeit mit den Decals hat aber Spaß gemacht! Die Qualität der Dinger ist absolut überzeugend!
 7 January 2013, 22:06
Dimitris P.K.
Looks great so far.
I dont know if someone mentioned it previously but, just a little heads up: the antena in the tail fin is painted black on the actual aircraft (as awell in 156747).
Looking forward for the end-result Holger. Keep it up
 7 January 2013, 22:06
Bill Gilman
Rock on, Holly, we're behind you! We can help with the cheek compressions! 🙂
 7 January 2013, 22:12
Holger Kranich
Hi Dimirtis!
Thanks for your hint! I spotted this too and discovered many many different versions of the same aircraft. I had many different references and mixed something up!
But my goal is to have a model that I love. The historical facts are important to me but this aircraft is one I build "out of my guts"!
I share your opinions and would appreciate if you give me advises in the future! Cheers Holger
 7 January 2013, 22:18
Holger Kranich
Thank you, Uncle Bill! If you haven't mentioned it, I would have ask for it!😢
 7 January 2013, 22:21
Dimitris P.K.
I just mentioned it, cause for me it looks weird without it. 🙂
When needed, don't afraid to ask.
Cheers

I'll do! Thx!!!

Doh !!!,I ask the dumbest of questions, "Have you got any photos yet ? !!!!!, Oh, ! one or two he says. !!!!! Holger, what a feast for the eyes mate, and Hobby Boss do come up with the most intricate surface detail, like the "Push release tabs" on the access panels and the hinges for the same. Not to mention the rivets that hold the latch/lock mechanism to the main latches. in image 22
 21 October 2014, 09:12
Kerry COX
The resin ejection seats are beautifully detailed mate, and may I suggest you try to make the "D" actuator handles out of the black and yellow cotton thread, as it really would complete the visuals in that department, but it's just a suggestion as I can see you have tried to paint the colours there already.
 21 October 2014, 09:17
Kerry COX
I am really impressed with it all my friend, and I like your watch !!!! 🙂
 21 October 2014, 09:19
Holger Kranich
Kim, Essi, you guys are great! THX!!!

Hi Kerry and thank ya for your kind comments! The cockpit is already covered with the canopy but i keep your thread hint in mind for further projects!

Its a pity that HobbyBoss has so nice surface details but they lack in the cockpit... You have seen that the seat from the box looks like a blob of styrene! LOL! The Verlinden seats improve the look very much!🙂

I like my watch, too LOL!😢
 21 October 2014, 10:57
Kerry COX
Holger, I was really impressed with Verlinden when they first started making the Martin Baker Ejection seats, and that is what is in my F4G Phantom and you may have noticed the pull handles in my F4 are the cotton ones too. Have you the ability to open your canopy for display at all ? Yeah, the blobs were hard to deal with and it is a pitty the cockpits are not that glamorous, but you have done a masterful job with yours mate, El Supremo !!
 21 October 2014, 11:09
Holger Kranich
Kerry, from the first day of this project, i wanted the canopy closed. Thats why i only added the resin seats and not the whole pit.
If i planed to display with an open canopy, i would have replaced the whole pit for some Aires or Blackbox stuff🙂

A masterful job? Calm down buddy😢😢😢 But thank ya, this build was a joy, so far!
 21 October 2014, 11:29
Soeren R.
Looks really great... After yours and Kerry A-7 photos I want to build one, as soon I will find one good kit in 1/72
