Thx. Yes, nice kit with fine details although the injection mold is made in/before 1999.

Some news: the build went ahead and i ordered some acessories for the diorama:
200gal. flat belly drop tank: 200 US gal. External Drop Ta..rbolt kit (CMK Q72264, 1:72)
Polish pilots: Battle of Britain Polish pil..ork Miniatures F72018, 1:72)
US Army machanics: US Army mechanics WW II (3 fig.) (CMK F72114, 1:72)
Due to the lack of offers of military ground crews, i chose additional a civilian ground crew: Ground Crew (PJ Production 721134, 1:72)

Does anybody know what kind of mission Capt. Witold A. Łanowski flown with the HV-Z? I did not find much about this topic. 🙁

Seems like it was mainly escorting. 😉

Thx. The wiki-articles were the first i found at my search.
Yesterday i found detailed information about the 56th FG. The link to a homepage about the 56th FG (61th 62th and 63th FS also): 56thfightergroup.co.uk/history.htm
At 3rd January 1945 the 56th FG begins to receive the new P-47M model. The 56th was the only group to fly the M model operationally. But the P-47M got many problems with the new engine so the 56th was taken off operations or changed the aircraft model (P-51). Several P-47Ms went down because of engine problems.
Only March 25th the engine problems could be solved and the 56th was back to business. Now they flew Ramrod-missions (bomber escording) but also Strafing-missions (ground attack on low level using aircraft-mounted automatic weapons).
That means, my idea for an diorama with this P-47M equipped with bombs to the wing pylons is unrealistic.
By the way: i found a book about Capt. Witold A. Łanowski: fightinghigh.com/products/out-in-front 🙂

Fantastic research, Shar. The book is Lanowski's autobiography in fact 🙂

Thx.
When comparing pictures in the inet with the cover photo and the instruction i found some mistakes.
The fin on back looks on the photos like black not aluminum as shown on the cover photo. The instruction demands complete black. Reference: worldwarphotos.info/..-56th-fighter-group/
The cover photo shows it with correct difference in hight of the color line on the front (cowling und forward fusselage). Reference: americanairmuseum.com/media/24339
On the pictures, the color of the canopy and windshild looks rather like aluminum (instruction), not red (cover). Reference: americanairmuseum.com/media/24321

To the best of my knowledge, you are absolutely right, Shar. This is how in Techmod decals Lanowski's Thunderbolt is presented:
Republic P-47D/M Thunderbolt (Techmod 72103, 1:72)

While working on my build some time ago, I went for blue fin and alu canopy framing, same as Techmod suggests. Not so sure about the fin colour tbh when I look at it now 🙂
That boxart profile looks very odd to me, but it covers another important detail - the horseshoe:

Nice progress. Good for you - their decals should be waaaay better. Looking forward to seeing what you picked for plum.

Thx Lukasz. 🙂 I hope, i will doing fine.
Hello everyone. I made some new pictures.
I'm testing clear coats at the moment. I tested several clear coats, none of which meets my requirements (good spraying and surface such as matching gloss level), yet.

Because we were moving last year, i hadn´t enough time for modelling. But now, my project goes on. Now some news.

Thunderbolt looks fantastic, Shar (Was it really your first time with airbrushing and weathering? You must be very talented then!)

Very good research! I was also looking for what the exact colors were because of the discrepancies between the box art and the manual. I have to admit I settled for a much more superficial work on the subject.

Missed this one Shar, and thanks for hosting the build in such detail. I will steal some of your ideas when I get to mine.

New advances: truck further completed and some more stuff for the truck and the airfield. Slowly the squirrel feeds (i love squirrels).
Thanks Andy. Which ideas do you mean?

Beautiful work on the P47. It amazes me the detail you get into that cockpit on this scale. Also, thats the proper way to paint metal finish. Fantastic result.

Shar: all of 'em! The Tamiya kit is superb, and the only thing I wish I'd done is slightly open those cowel blades as you have

Incredible work, Shar (I love squirrels too); I love the weathering you did on the truck, especially given the scale of 1:72. That can't have been easy.

Thank you Mr James, Andy, Jennifer and Nicolas.
I should continue here too, but so far I haven't had the muse for it - I don't like painting figures.

I can understand that. I do most of my figure painting during the week after work. Then I only have 10-20 minutes anyway, overall I make quite good progress, but I never sit on the figures for long.
