With these pictures I open the construction of the large DC-10 as a fire-fighting aircraft - an exciting and spectacular machine, which I hope the model will capture a little of.
The kit from AMP is quite easy to assemble; of course you won't find any location pins and you have to allow for a certain amount of clean-up and subsequent filling and sanding work - this is apparent - but the accuracy of fit itself is excellent and the parts layout is simply clever.

Well, this looks like a great project. I'm taking the seat now, Roland!

Oh no Roland. You don't know how many times my finger has hovered over the "buy now" button for this kit. After seeing yours I'm sure it will be inevitable. I'm excited to see this one.

I appreciate your feedback! Nathan, it looks like I have to praise and commend the kit- so far it all looks "great" fun to build for a 144 kit! So- get this kit 🙂

There are also a few new pictures here - the elegance of the DC-10-to-be stands in a pleasant contrast to the CL-215! 🙂 On the one hand, the accuracy of fit is quite marvellous, but there was still a lot of filler work here and there because the colours were not moulded quite cleanly. This mainly concerns the tail with the complex turbine installation and also the two fuselage half-shells. Nonetheless, this is an excellent kit that I am really enjoying!

A few new pictures show the construction progress: the wings in light grey and with several shades of Alclad are now finished; now it's time for the fuselage! I'm going to mask all the wings, spray white as a primer and then apply the spectacular orange colour - I'm really looking forward to that!

I'm pleased about that - and am already curious myself! 🙂

I can only agree to the elegance of the DC-10. The fire fighter version should rock. I am a happy guy who got a DC-10 kit almost as old as I am (molded in 1972). Maybe too late for your build, but the Druz144-engines I ordered for my build were shipped without any problem and look like real gems.
Nice progress so far. You will go for decals for the windows?

Hi Michael, I'm glad you like the DC-10 as a fire fighter - I was also amazed at first and then delighted. Thanks for the tip, the products really do look fabulous, I didn't know the manufacturer until now. But here I'm sticking with what AMP put in the box, most of the work seems to have been done. But another DC-10 might not be a bad idea given the quality of this kit...

A few quick pictures from tonight: I was able to remove all the masks and take a look at the preliminary result, which was really tense with all the masked parts at the end. Well, now the surfaces have a glossy clear coat on top, the decals can be applied tomorrow.

Wow that's some great paint work. Masking with orange and white as the opposing colors must have been nerve racking.

Roland, you're moving very quickly ahead in the build. Very inspiring. Thank you. 👍🙋🏼♂️

Thank you both! Well, first Gunze H14 was sprayed as orange, after masking I first primed with a light grey tone before I went over it with Tamiya white matt and then Tamyia white gloss. The very different orange was then well covered. I'm a little proud of the clean curve of the masking lines on the nose and tail, so I'm glad it went well 🙂

Now it's actually done - and I've learnt once again that even the small "144" scale can be a lot of fun. 🙂
The kit from AMP is really first class and makes things very comfortable and easy. In any case, I'm looking forward to welcoming this dwarf-scale giant to the display case as the next entry in the current "Firefighting Aircraft" series.
I was very pleased about your interest and your comments - thank you very much!

Roland, you're fast as a bullet! I've been building my models usually for about two years or more... 🤣🤣🤣 Awesome result! 👏
However, for airliners, I recommend paying close attention to applying the decal with the windows so that they are straight and do not wave. This should always be checked from a perspective where it is then obvious. Often it's not easy and I missed some of that waves. I have several experience with it... 🫣

Fabulous work. Question, where do you display larger pieces like this ? I would love to take on larger projects and I have a few in my stash but with limited shelf space they remain unbuilt. Thanks

Thank you very much for your positive feedback and interesting comments, mates - I really appreciate it!
Zbynek, you mention something that I am only now realising. Too late for now, but important for what follows - thank you for this important (and elegant) advice. As I'm starting to acquire a taste for airliners, I'm glad for this hint.

Hi Nick, one wall of a large ( consistently dust-free) cellar room is fitted with open shelves, where the newer models are stored close together. Tricky constructions or those that have had their time in the open display case are stored in self-made foam boxes, where they wait for the next opportunity for fame and attention in a small, dust-proof space 🙂

Thank you. I have a few display cabinets now and like the idea of rotating the pieces !
